Product Description

BaseCote™ is a plaster-based setting compound designed for taping and basecoating plasterboard joints, angles and fastener heads – including SHEETROCK® Plasterboard and FIBEROCK®.

Newly reformulated, BaseCote™ now has a smoother, creamier texture, making it easier to trowel and scrape back. The lighter feel and improved application experience helps deliver a smooth finish.

Available in 45, 60 and 90 minutes working time.

What manufacturer recommendations are there for Basecote?

BaseCote™ is suitable for base coating plasterboard joints, angles and fastener heads when used in conjunction with Knauf Finishing or All Purpose compounds.
BaseCote™ is recommended for use as the first and second coat in Knauf three coat jointing systems.

What should be avoided when using Basecote?

On hot, windy days, where the risk of early dry out exists, the use of RediBase™ compound is recommended.
Under cold or wet conditions, allow a longer dry time before applying the following coat.
The inclusion of other materials to a mix will impair the performance (e.g. reduced strength and poor adhesion) and void the product warranty.
Application of plaster based setting compounds over premixed drying type compounds is not recommended.

How should Basecote be mixed?

Always use clean cold water, tools and containers
Do not mix with residues of previously used compounds; use of dirty tools or containers may affect product performance
Always add BaseCote™ to water (5kg of powder to 3L of water)
Mix only enough BaseCote to meet needs
Mix by hand or with a power mixer (max of 400rpm) until a workable paste has been achieved
Caution: Do not overmix. Overmixing can introduce air bubbles, which can create surface imperfections and reduces working time
Once setting has commenced the material cannot be remixed and must be discarded

How should Basecote be stored?

BaseCote™ should be stored under cover in a dry environment and protected from temperature extremes; storage in an unsuitable environment can shorten the life of this product
It is recommended that BaseCote™ is used before the best before date displayed on the bag; it may still be usable after that date if stored unopened, in a suitable environment
