KNAUF DIY Cornice Adhesive will bond all the decorative plaster pieces you’ve planned for your new home or renovation.

Cornice Adhesive is a plaster-based adhesive formulated for bonding paperfaced and plaster cornices to plasterboard surfaces and reinforcing joints in cornices. It can also be used for bonding other plaster decorative products, bonding back-blocks to plasterboard joints, laminating plasterboard sheets and caulking gaps in fire-rated wall constructions.

  • Avoid use on hot, windy days where there is a high risk of early dry-out; to reduce early dry-out, wet sponging/dampening of the plasterboard surfaces and the use of Knauf Cornice Adhesive 45 is recommended
  • The inclusion of other materials to a mix will impair the performance (e.g. reduced strength and poor adhesion) and void the product warranty
  • Application of plaster-based setting compounds, such as Knauf Cornice Adhesive, over premixed topping compounds is not recommended; poor bonding or cracking will occur
  • Knauf Cornice Adhesive is not suitable for jointing or as a masonry adhesive
  • Always use clean cold water, tools and containers
  • Use of dirty tools or containers may affect product performance
  • Do not mix with residues of previously used compounds
  • Always add Cornice Adhesive to water (5kg of powder to 3L of water)
  • Mix only enough Cornice Adhesive to meet needs
  • Mix by hand or with a power mixer (max of 400rpm) until a workable paste has been achieved
  • Caution: Do not overmix. Overmixing can reduce the working time. It can also introduce air bubbles, which can create surface imperfections
  • Once setting has commenced the material cannot be remixed and must be discarded
  • Cornice Adhesive should be stored under cover in a dry environment and protected from temperature extremes; storage in an unsuitable environment can shorten the life of this product
  • It is recommended that Cornice Adhesive is used before the best before date displayed on the bag.
  • It may still be usable after that date if stored

DIY Cornice Adhesive

Applications
  • Cornice installation, ceiling rose installation, plaster repair
  • Surfaces must be clean and free from dust
  • Can be applied with hand and mechanical tools
  • When used for bonding cast fibrous plaster cornices and other plaster decorative products, permanent supplementary fastening, i.e. nails or screws MUST BE USED
  • When using long or heavy lengths of cornices, use temporary supplementary fastening such as nails or screws until the adhesive has set hard
  • For non-plasterboard surfaces, i.e. masonry, brick, cement sheet or concrete, refer to the Knauf Plasterboard Installation Manual
  • Thoroughly clean all tools and equipment after use
